Cafe Pizza Chef

We are looking for a new chef to join the kitchen at The Gritstone cafe, where we serve fresh pizza every day, as well as a variety of other hot and cold foods.

You will play a vital role in our cafe's success by upholding a consistent high standard of food preparation and presentation. We endeavour to keep our offerings new and exciting, and our chefs are the key to this - do not be afraid to get creative and make suggestions!

The role involves both team and solo working; therefore, the ability to managing daily kitchen operations on your own is essential. Strong communication and attention to detail is also necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Become proficient at preparing all menu items to a high standard and in a timely manner.
• Prepare a wide variety of ingredients required for service.
• Confidently manage all areas of the kitchen - including service, prep, and portering.
• Inventory management - including ordering, stock rotation and a monthly stock take.
• Open and close kitchen independently.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations in the kitchen, and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
• Bring creativity and enthusiasm to the role, and help keep the menu exciting.

Job requirements:

• Minimum of 6 months experience with pizza.
• Strong knowledge of basic food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Weekend availability.
• Knowledge of food safety and food allergen awareness.
• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage your time effectively.
